Rachel qualified as a registered nurse in 2001 from Keele University and since 2002 has worked in Primary Care as a GPN and ANP. Qualifying as a GPN Specialist Practitioner in 2005, Rachel is now completing an MSc in Frailty and Integrated Care. Rachel is Clinical Nurse Lead at Ashley Surgery and is passionate about the GPN role and the developing workforce. Actively involved in the Evidence Based Practice group with Keele University working collaboratively with local GPNs / ANPs and clinical academics. Supporting student nurse placements and encouraging newly qualified nurses to start their career in General Practice is an important focus and she is involved in supporting the Fundamentals in General Practice Nursing course with Keele University. It is important going forward to work for standardised training for GPNs, but also look at ways to enhance the nursing team workforce. Rachel sees her position on the board as an opportunity to give GPNs a voice at the ‘planning’ table and to be able to develop and influence projects going forward.
