Dr Perumal Sankari

Sankari completed her medical degree and a postgraduate degree in ophthalmology in India .Then she came to the UK and completed FRCS Ophthalmology, MRCGP, DFSRH and a postgraduate certificate in MMEDSci at Keele. She has been working in the NHS since March 1997. She has worked both in the hospital and general practice settings. She has undertaken various leadership roles in both settings.

Since 2008 She has been working as a GP principal in Norfolk street surgery, Shelton. She is also a GP trainer and a GP appraiser with special interest in education and training. Most of her working week consists of consulting patients and delivering patient care directly. That has enabled her to understand the challenges General Practice faces on a daily basis in providing high quality care to patients and the services required to meet the needs of local people.

As a federation board director she is involved in supporting the development of primary care networks. Moreover she works closely with rest of workforce team in developing General Practice workforce locally. She is the clinical lead for the Staffordshire Physician Associate internship programme which has been rolled out to Shropshire, Birmingham and Solihull. In her spare time she  enjoys running and Indian dancing .
