Edward Myers Unit (EMU) is a 14 bedded unit, delivering inpatient alcohol and drug detoxification services primarily for North Staffordshire & Stoke-On-Trent, but also receives patients from a wider geographical area, as part of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. EMU provide a planned programme of medically supervised evaluation, care, and treatment of mental and substance-related disorders, delivered in an acute care inpatient setting by clinicians, including psychiatrist, and offer 24-hour clinical cover for medically supervised evaluation and withdrawal management.
Whilst the service enjoys close working relationships with local community drug and alcohol services, and other national drug and alcohol services, and other national drug and alcohol agencies, Edward Myers Unit have now extended their business and are happy to announce to other professionals and the general public, that they now accept Private Self Referrals for drug and alcohol detoxifications.
If you feel that someone you know, or one of your customers/patients/service users might be interested to learn more about this service, please do ask them to contact a member of the team on Edward Myers Unit on 01782 441715. In their experience it is sometimes the case, that an individual, (who has the financial means), wishes to self-refer for a drug or alcohol detox, as opposed to going through their local community and drug alcohol service.
Edward Myers Unit is part of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is a leading provider of mental health, social care, learning disability and substance misuse services in the West Midlands. In March 2019, we were delighted and proud to announce that the Care Quality Commission has awarded the Trust an overall “Outstanding” rating – the highest overall rating they can award.
